Gums before Crowns
One of the true measures of a good dentist is how well he or she cares about your gums. Gums treatment, or periodontal therapy, must always precede any other type of treatment. This holds true particularly with regards to placing permanent crowns or "caps" on your teeth. Since the final esthetic result of any crown is how it appears against the gums, unfavorable results may be obtain if gums are not treated before placing crowns.

Oftentimes, a 'Periodontist' (or gums specialist) is summoned to discuss the future prognosis of a case. In our office Dr. Robert Kaufman evaluates those patients which require a closer look at their gums. He makes sure that the gums foundation of your mouth is in as good a condition as possible so that any future restorative treatment will not affect them.
